A chronic shortage of Cameroon in the mid-1990s prompted its maker substitute Indonesian wrapper. The taste changed. Today, Cameroon has staged a mighty comeback, allowing H. H. Upmann Cuban Cigars

H. Upmann cigars are as famous a brand as there is in the world of cigars, the H. Upmann Cuban cigar brand dates back to October 15th, 1844, when its creators August Hupmann and his brother Herman Upmann, a German banker, began using specially imprinted cigar boxes as promotional items for their banking firm. The combination proved successful, so the H. Upmann cigars brand was born and continues to this day.
This famed Habanos cigar brand has been highly rated since then and it's current popularity surely has far exceeded the expectations of it's founders. The success of the H. Upmann cuban cigar brand was buoyed by the award of seven gold medals in seven international cigar exhibitions between 1862 and 1893. These awards still adorn the lithographed interior of the H. Upmann cigar box today. The brand was sold to the British firm of J. Frankau in 1922 and finally in 1935 to Menendez, Garcia & Cia. prior to Cuban nationalization, and continues today in the H. Upmann cigar factory, now known as Jose Marti cigar factory.
It is a staple Cuban cigar brand among cigar aficionados who enjoy a stronger cigar. Its wrapper is darker than typical Cuban cigars, and provides the foundation of flavor and aroma, giving the cigar a sweet and spicy note.
