Obviously a cigar lighter is a mechanical device, so there are a few simple maintenance tasks you can perform to keep your lighter working perfectly and to give it a long life.

Bleeding and Filling your cigar lighter

1. Bleed the lighter each time you refill it.

2. Release all tank pressure by pressing on the inlet valve with a small screwdriver or similar tool. Hold the lighter upside down while bleeding the valve and repeat until all fuel/gas pressure is released from the lighter.

3. Holding the lighter upside down, insert the butane tank tip directly into the fuel valve. Press down firmly for about 5 seconds.

4. Before igniting the lighter, wait 3-4 minutes for excess butane to evaporate and for the butane inside the cigar lighter to reach room temperature.

5. Set the lighter flame level to your desired height by turning the flame adjuster wheel.

If you don't use your lighter on a regular basis, we recommend you periodically (roughly every three months) perform a few, simple maintenance procedures:

1) To clear obstructions such as dirt or dust, blow a burst of air into the ignition valve. You can use a compressed gas computer cleaner product such as Dust-Off available from office supply stores.

2) Drain the lighter fuel tank as described above, then refill the gas tank.

3) After draining and refilling the gas tank, ignite the flame several times at different setting levels of flame height adjuster.
If the lighter is used regularly, all the lighter parts maintain their effectiveness. Lighters are susceptible to mechanical malfunction if they are not used for a long period of time.

Cigar Lighter Troubleshooting

Problem: Lighter will not light

Of course always keep your lighter out of the reach of children and away from all open flame sources.

Cuban Cohiba cigars hit the Cuban cigar stage in 1966. The Cohiba cigar brand name would became famous upon registration of the Cohiba brand in 1969. When it was finally brought to the market, it was by then the most coveted Cuban cigar in the world.

The origin of Cohiba cigars begins with one of Fidel Castro's bodyguards introducing Cuba's President to cigars privately made by Eduardo Ribera - at the time a top roller at the La Corona cigar factory in Havana, Cuba. The unique blend of tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba so impressed Castro that a high-security cigar factory was set up in El Laguito, to maintain an exclusive supply for 'El Presidente'.

The brand was officially named Cohiba (a Cuban Taino indian word for cigar) in 1968 but was restricted to distribution within diplomatic circles until 1982, when it was made available to VIPs such as the King of Spain and other heads of state.

The tobaccos used for Cohiba cigars are quite special. It is grown at full length in selected plantations in the Vuelta Abajo region, in the province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba.

Production began with three sizes, each a personal favourite of Castro - the Cohiba Lancero, the Cohiba Corona Especiale and the Cohiba Panetela. They were re-christened Laguito No.1, No.2 and No.3 - and the first two sizes featured a unique, tiny pigtail on their cigar caps.

In November 1992, to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of Cuba (and even more importantly, its cigars), five new sizes known as the Cohiba Linea 1492 (the six former sizes have now been renamed the Cohiba Linea Clasica) were launched at a cigar dinner at Claridge's Hotel in London. Named Cohiba Siglo (for century) I, II, II, IV and V, i.e. the five centuries since Columbus landed on Cuban soil.

Year brand established: 1966

About Habanos Cigars

Cohiba is a brand within the range of Habanos cigars. The Habanos Denomination of Origin certification is applied to all cigars in which 100 per cent of the tobacco used in the cigar has been grown in Cuba. Likewise, it is an essential requirement that all cigars manufactured in Cuba are subjected to numerous quality control checks, both during the agricultural and curing process, as well as during all stages of manufacturing in the cigar factory.

The same rigorous procedures are applied to the selection of the appropriate leaves, quality control, of draw, of the true flavor of each of the Cuban cigar brand names and, finally, the quality of the cigar's appearance and presentation. The quality of the Habanos Cuban cigar is the result of the mystical union of four elements: soil, varieties of Cuban black tobacco, climate and the wisdom of Cuba's agricultural workers and cigar makers.

Numerous attempts to achieve the standards of authentic Cuban cigars in other areas of the world with seeds of Cuban origin have failed to attain the unequalled quality of genuine Cuban cigars. These same elements: the harmonious combination of the sun, the average temperature, atmospheric humidity, soil and subsoil composition are those which make the quality of the Cuban cigar, both in terms of agriculture and manufacturing, unique to Cuba. Therefore, the Habanos Cuban cigar trademark printed on the boxes of brand name Cuban cigars is the guarantee that these cigars are backed by Habanos Denomination of Origin Protection. This is a guarantee of quality and origin that is awarded to only the finest Cuban cigars manufactured in Cuba under the strictest quality control measures, with the best leaves selected from Cuba's tobacco regions.
